Don't Throw Beer...EVER!

Before I start the "don't throw beer" rant,
I would just like to point out to Cubs Security that YOU KICKED OUT THE WRONG GUY!
The D-bag on the left is the one who threw the beer.
The D-bag on the right... well... you can throw him out too, but he didn't throw the beer.

Look, I know you may have had one too many at the ballpark.
I understand you have a severe dislike of the Phillies... or Victorino... or the fact that the Cubs were getting shelled.

But there is no excuse.... NO EXCUSE!!!! ... EVER!!!! ...

...to waste alcohol.

DON'T THROW BEER!

70's Night at Wrigley 2009 - July 6th. D'oh!

Dear Cubs Marketing Dept. -

Way to drop the ball and wait until the very last minute to announce (on television - as an afterthought) that seventies night is on July 6th, which is totally inconsistent with every other time you've held a 70's night.

People need to plan ahead for these events, as your bleacher tickets often sell out for this event, and now since you haven't used the first home game in August like most people were expecting, we'll be unable to attend the actual event.

p.s. - plan to play a lot of seventies music on August 11th while you're giving out your Ryan Sandberg Bobbleheads, because we'll very likely dress up in 70's outfits on that day just to spite you.

Sincerely,
Cub Fans who like 70's night.

Thanks, Bobby! Come Back Soon!

For those who haven't heard yet...
Bobby Scales is goin back to Iowa.

This is a bad idea.
How are we supposed to have a Cinderella-Story-Ending if he's back in the minors?!?!

Oh... wait... I see.
Jim Hendry, you are a genius! Put him back in the minors for a month or two and then bring him back in August or September to bail us out of whatever mess the Cubs get into.

OK, carry on!
But if I don't see Mr. Scales return to Chicago in August, HEADS WILL ROLL!!!! (metaphorically)

Maybe a different colored cat.

I'm probably going to catch hell from other Cub fans for even bringing this up, but...

It has been 40 years.
2009 - 1969 = 40

Well, not exactly 40 years yet, but it seems like no one is even acknowledging this.
All I want to know is..
Has anyone... in all this time... considered...possibly... maybe...
letting a white cat roam across the field in front of Lou Piniella and then running behind whoever happens to be playing 3rd base (get well soon, Ramirez!) while he's on deck?

click on photo for Chicago Tribune article.

Everyone's been concentrating on that OTHER animal. Maybe it's time to shift gears.

OK, fine. You're not going to bother giving in to these "silly superstitions".
Then someone stop by the clubhouse and tell Lou to start giving these guys more batting practice or something! This is friggin ridiculous!!! Yes, more ridiculous than a freakin animal curse!

p.s. - Go Cubs.

Peavy to White Sox? or would he prefer playing for the NL ?

The trade is approved by San Diego, but does Peavy want to play for the American League? Last time we checked, he's said he'd rather play in the NL.

And if Peavy passes on the White Sox.... could the Cubs make him an offer he can't refuse?

We Cub fans are used to hoping for unlikely scenarios.
Come on, Peavy! Give us a hint of your intentions (to join the Cubs) in your inevitable interview. Maybe just a brief nod to the North Siders; a "Holy Cow, this was a tough decision, but...".

Go Cubs.

Dempster Has Taste

This is Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster at tonight's Chicago Blackhawks game.

I'm thinking that Aramis Ramirez dared him to wear it should he bail Demp out with a walk-off homer (which he did - Go Cubbies!).

Reed Freakin Johnson!

Sunday Night, Reed Johnson stole a grand slam away from Prince Fielder.
Lou Piniella, are you paying attention? Don't leave him out of the playoffs this time!

One Down, 161 to go.

I don't know why the song "99 bottles of beer on the wall" is going thru my head, except in my head, there's 162 bottles and one of them is empty.

Go Cubs!

(the song below has swear words in it. if you're uncomfortable with a small amount of cursing at the beginning, then you should NOT play it.)

MLB Fan Value Corner

MLB has launched a section of their baseball juggernaut of team websites called "MLB Fan Value Corner".

I'd call it the "We're stuck with all those crappy, often rainy (and in the Cubs' case SNOWY) friggin April Games and we want you to feel like we really care about bilking you out of your last dollar selling you lower than half-price tickets that you probably wouldn't want to buy anyway since you just spent your last paycheck paying off the interest on your high definition tv which gets the games just fine! Corner" .
But then, I'm probably not so good at marketing.

Anyway, if somehow you didn't manage to get some decent tickets this year (i might have extras - call me) and still want to catch a game in probably less than perfect weather conditions, or are a college student not concerned about possibly having your view partially obstructed by a support beam or skybox , you might be able to get an affordable ticket to our beloved national pasttime.

Enjoy!

Baseball Fans - Do Not Watch The Series!

Baseball fans:
DO NOT WATCH THE WORLD SERIES.

Don't turn to the channel on your DVR (on either tuner - you know who you are).
Don't switch over for a second to check the score.
Don't watch Baseball Tonight on ESPN
Don't watch any postgame analysis.

We need to send a message.
What that message is exactly, I don't know.
Wait! I know!
No, wait.. I lost it.
Oh yeah, I got it!
The message is this:

We don't wanna watch your crappy world series until the friggin Cubs play the friggin White Sox!

TV NETWORKS, ARE YOU LISTENING?
We don't care how.
Just make it happen.

p.s. - also make sure that more real fans have a reasonable chance to purchase tickets this time!
p.p.s. - TBS should not be allowed to show any more baseball games until they correctly position the cameras for proper pitch-viewing. There is no excuse!

Uribe's Curse - 100 years for the Sox

I was listening to Johnny B. on WLUP 97.9FM - CHICAGO the other day and he was talking to a guy who had sold his boat to White Sox third baseman Juan Uribe.

According to the man who sold the boat, Uribe had asked him to store the boat for him for a few days so he could arrange to have the boat shipped to his home in the Dominican Republic.

Just google (yes, now it's a verb) for "uribe boat" and you'll find plenty of articles that give the details.

Long story short... Uribe has left the boat at this man's car wash/detailing shop for the whole season and has yet to pick it up, so the man contacted Uribe's people and said he would have to start charging daily storage fees.
This information apparently was never relayed to Uribe and so the third baseman refused to pay, and has yet to pick up his boat.

Has anyone noticed the Sox are kinda suckin right now? Suckitude to the level of possibly not making it into the playoffs?

FORGET GOATS!
I'm thinking that Uribe better pay this guy and pick up his boat or the Sox may suffer from...

THE HUNDRED YEAR BOAT CURSE!

Keep it up, Uribe! Maybe the Sox Fans will forgive you.... some day.

kinda sorta poll about the world series - revised

If the Cubs make it to the W.S. , who would you like them to play?

Here's my top 3 choices:

1) Red Sox
The team that used to have the second longest W.S. drought.

2) White Sox
A crosstown series? The city would probably implode. No wonder Chicago was ranked as the most stressful city.

3) Yankees
I was fortunate enough to see the Cubs play the Yankees at Wrigley. This was a sufficient surrogate W.S. for me.

3) Twins? Rays? I dunno.

Tell me your top 3 choices... POST A COMMENT BELOW :-)
